Howdy! I’m Talia Jean

"Yes, Talia's a talented photographer with a great eye but, more importantly, she's a blast to have around. She exudes an amazing enthusiastic energy whenever she's on set and instantly makes everyone feel happier and at ease. Her photographs are wonderful and thoughtful and she has an impressive way of capturing the moment perfectly." - Boaz Frankel | Copywriter, Filmmaker, World Record Holder, Weiden & Kennedy
Talia brought out my inner “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” in a recent photo session, and I mean that as a compliment. Whatever the project, when she is involved, it is certain to be more fun, creative and serendipitous. The Talia effect is something you just can’t get off the shelf. Like a psychedelic mushroom or a stream-of-consciousness poem, the intangibles become tangible, and you're on your way to something memorable. Whatever the project, from layouts that elevate text with evocative visuals, to underwater photography and holiday portraits, the subjects relax, and the results rock. - Cathy Carrol | Freelance Editor & Content Creator Copywriter, Bend, OR
“Talia is committed to the shot. As in, the woman has no qualms about climbing into pastures and navigating piles of manure to get the shot of a beautiful dairy cow and its calf that will create a compelling visual narrative. I have worked with Talia on several projects and find her combination of focus and joy to be a compelling and contagious force that I value highly. I always appreciate her ability to look beyond the norm to find the quirky, intimate and overlooked bits that truly capture the essence of the moment.” - Laura Wieking | Director of Artisan Foods at Watershed Brand Communications, Portland, OR
I really wanted product images that were vital and alive - that reflected the botanical beauty inside each bottle. Talia read every single ingredient panel and gave me a detailed list of the plants and props that her creative mind dreamed up. I have this ethereal memory of her “plating” our products with the flowers and herbs in our gardens on our south-facing porch on a blazing hot summer day. My entire experience with Talia is thoughtful and lovely. I couldn’t be happier. - Jody Berry | Manufacturer & Formulator at Wild Carrot Herbals, Joseph, OR
I will never forget meeting Talia for the first time. She had a photo assignment to capture me in my painting studio for a publication & I was feeling a bit nervous because I don't particularly love to be in front of the camera. (Especially with a stranger). However when I opened the door, I was greeted by the warm ray of light that is Talia. And instantaneously, I felt comfortable. She made me laugh & feel totally at ease with the process. I believe that is her true gift as a photographer - she provides warmth & space to let individuals be totally themselves. And that authenticity comes out in her photos. I recently posted a photo from that session and my friend commented that "the photographer really captured your soul". Her photos are incredible because she is.
P.S. My favorite part of our session was when a Sturgill Simpson song came on my playlist & Talia invited me to go line dancing at a local country bar. At that moment I knew this "stranger" would be my longtime friend. - Sheila Dunn | Painter at Sheila Dunn Art, Bend, OR
"She will make you laugh, she will make you cry. If you cry she will play the guitar and sing to make you smile. And while all of this is going on Talia will have already taken your picture and sourced your next shoot location. If you are really lucky you may end up at...or in, the Big Foot Trap." - Brown Cannon | Co-Founder of Intersection Photos
We bring Talia into our work process whenever speed and quality are not a necessary component. We generally micro-manage the crap out of the entire project, then complain that she "just did what we would have done". So, you know, make what you will of that. - Tyrone Hazen | Owner at Loloma Lodge, Bend, OR
"Talia photographed our wedding and we couldn't be happier. We immediately fell in love with her style and photographs that were natural and candid. She was so communicative throughout and took the time to really get a sense of what we envisioned. Her presence on the day of the wedding was so calming and fun and I just loved having her around, interacting with my friends and family and catching some great moments. Her personality is so warm and she has an incredible sense of humor - something I greatly appreciated during the wedding planning process and on the day of the wedding! I had the sense that she was enjoying the day as much as our guests and she really felt like part of the family. One thing that I thought was especially great was that I never really felt like I was being overly photographed. At some weddings I feel like the photographer can sort of steal the show, taking away from the ceremony and becoming a focal point. Talia was present for all of the right moments and got in there to get the best shots but she never once felt intrusive or out of place. When she photographed us alone, she made us feel so comfortable and we had such a special, genuine moment to ourselves. It was a really special way to capture our happiness. And of course, the end product is stunning. I am so incredibly grateful to have pictures that truly captured what a magical day we had. Everyone at our wedding loved Talia and we got so many compliments about her. I really couldn't recommend her more highly. - Aubree Larson | Client, San Francisco, CA
